Responsibilities Meridell Achievement Center is a 134‑bed, seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. The facility provides 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs designed to improve behavior, emotions and social functioning. The RN works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. Responsibilities include physical assessments of patients, implementing treatment plans, evaluating response to treatment, providing complete documentation, administering medications as prescribed, and delivering health‑care education to patients and families. The RN serves as the shift supervisor of mental‑health techs and LVN staff, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients. The RN provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescents, and young adults as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Responsibilities also involve crisis management and overall medical management of patients to support a therapeutic milieu. Schedule: 16‑hour double shift (Monday and Tuesday) and 8‑hour single shift (Wednesday) – 40 hours per week. Experience: One year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting preferred. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current Texas Registered Nurse License. Current driver license. Knowledge and Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information; demonstrate effective organization; develop and implement patient care services within discipline; consistently exhibit mental ability to understand and perform essential functions; initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process; provide safe nursing care; understand patient rights; basic supervisory skills.
