SEDM Field Service Technician Active - Regular full-time Hartford, CT, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1985 Salary Range: $26.00 To $29.00 Hourly DESCRIPTION As a Sinker EDM Field Service Technician, you will utilize customer communication skills, and the mechanical and electrical knowledge to repair, troubleshoot, modify and test complex technical problems on Mitsubishi Machining products. This is a 100% travel position, Monday through Friday. Travel is primarily throughout the US, but can be International in some cases as well. Our services are provided on-site at our customer’s facilities and via telephone if the situation permits. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Travel to customer locations to diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repair Examine machines mechanically and electrically in order to perform repairs by dismantling machines and rebuilding as needed Diagnose technical problems and troubleshoot via telephone Communicate professionally and effectively with customers Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problems Document in detail product problems and resolutions Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Working knowledge of how to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams CNC programming skills a plus Ability to operate computer using windows operating systems Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment Extensive travel necessary, current valid drivers’ license required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 2 year Electronic or Technical Degree, or experience equivalent Skilled in Electrical measurement and inspection techniques. (Voltmeter, Oscilloscope and other measurement equipment) Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems Skilled in mechanical measurement and inspection techniques (Dial Indicators, Micrometers, and Calipers) WORKING CONDITIONS Job operates mainly indoors, but is exposed to changing weather conditions, such as extreme hot or cold, rain, sun, wind, etc. This job also works near moving mechanical parts and the noise level is moderate to loud. This position generally has a lot of driving and overtime work. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job requires very frequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, standing, speaking and hearing and frequent kneeling. Repetitive use of the hands, squeezing, keyboarding and crouching. Requires frequent lifting and carrying of 1-10 pounds, recurrent lifting of 11-20 pounds and occasional lifting and carrying of 21-50 or more pounds. Also requires constant pushing and pulling of 1-50 pounds and infrequent pushing and pulling of over 50 pounds with the aid of handcarts or other wheeled devices. Good visual and color acuity are a must to perform this type of job.
