Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts | 19:00–07:00

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, including continuous telemetry monitoring and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Manage a broad range of clinical procedures including IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, PCA, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Perform respiratory support interventions including external CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, and interpretation of ABGs
• Care for patients with CVA, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, renal failure, and post-hemodialysis needs
• Manage surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams and maintain strict isolation precautions as indicated

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must be willing to work holidays; no time off requested during the first two weeks of assignment, and no more than 3 days of requested time off for the duration of the 13-week contract
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the same rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency with telemetry rhythm strip interpretation; an advanced EKG exam (20 questions, 45 minutes) is required prior to start with a minimum passing score of 80%
• Experience with accessing ports, PICC line management, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Familiarity with non-invasive airway management techniques and portable oxygen systems
• Prior travel nursing experience or ability to adapt quickly to a new clinical environment
