Do you have a passion for music and a heart for helping others? Mid-Michigan Home Health and Hospice is seeking a compassionate, talented, and engaging Music Entertainer to bring the gift of music to individuals receiving hospice care.

Music has a unique ability to create connections, awaken memories, reduce feelings of isolation, and bring moments of happiness and comfort. In this special role, you will visit hospice patients in their homes and care facilities, sharing live musical performances that enhance quality of life and create meaningful experiences for patients and their loved ones.

Responsibilities

• Provide live musical entertainment to hospice patients in private homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and other care settings.

• Perform familiar, enjoyable music tailored to the patient's interests, preferences, cultural background, and abilities.

• Encourage patient and family participation through singing, reminiscing, and musical interaction when appropriate.

• Use music to create a calming, comforting, and positive environment for patients and families.

• Recognize and respond appropriately to patients' emotional and physical needs during musical visits.

• Adapt musical performances to accommodate patients with dementia, cognitive impairment, limited communication, or declining physical abilities.

• Collaborate with hospice nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other interdisciplinary team members to identify patients who may benefit from musical visits.

• Maintain a respectful, compassionate, and professional approach when working with patients at end of life.

• Document visits and patient responses in accordance with agency requirements.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Musical talent and the ability to perform live music.

• Experience playing an instrument, singing, or providing musical entertainment.

• Previous experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or hospice patients preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Compassionate, patient, and sensitive to the needs of individuals facing end-of-life challenges.

• Ability to adapt musical selections and performances to individual patient preferences.

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the agency's service area.

• Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
