Medical Director Veterinarian

Introduction Our client is a hospital hiring a full-time Medical Director Veterinarian to lead a well-established small animal practice that also sees exotics and pocket pets. This AAHA-accredited hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian to step into a predominantly clinical leadership role focused on guiding medical standards, supporting the veterinary team, and shaping the direction of the practice while continuing to practice high-quality medicine. Role Description and Responsibilities The Medical Director Veterinarian will provide comprehensive medical care for dogs, cats, exotics, and pocket pets while leading clinical standards across the hospital. Responsibilities include wellness and preventative care, diagnostics, dentistry, routine and advanced soft-tissue surgery, internal medicine, pain management, acupuncture, palliative care, vaccinations, microchipping, spay and neuter procedures, and client education. The role also involves collaborating closely with hospital and regional leadership to support case management consistency, guide medical protocols, and foster a positive team environment. This opportunity is suited to an experienced veterinarian with leadership ambitions and strong clinical skills. Practice Details This AAHA-accredited practice has served the community since 1978 and offers a diverse caseload including dogs, cats, exotics, and pocket pets. The hospital is equipped with an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, two dental suites, eight fully equipped exam rooms, and a paperless workflow system. Orthopedic cases are supported through a traveling surgeon, with access to nearby specialty referral centers for complex cases. Services include wellness exams, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, acupuncture, palliative care, kitten and puppy care, vaccinations, microchipping, and preventative medicine. The practice emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, patient safety, and high-quality care within a modern and efficient facility. Hospital hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and closed Saturday and Sunday. Team The hospital currently has 7 DVMs supported by an experienced technical team with an approximate 2.5:1 technician-to-doctor ratio.
