The Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for managing and overseeing end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all payroll processes. This role serves as a functional expert supporting Payroll Leads and stakeholders, with responsibilities spanning pre-payroll, payroll processing, and post-payroll activities. The SME plays a critical role in ensuring payroll integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end payroll activities across pre-payroll, payroll processing, and post-payroll stages
• Validate payroll inputs including employee data, time records, earnings, and deductions to ensure accuracy
• Execute and review payroll calculations, ensuring compliance with tax laws and statutory requirements
• Partner with HR, Finance, and Time and Attendance teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data integrity
• Support payroll system processing, troubleshooting, and enhancements
• Ensure timely salary disbursement, statutory filings, and payroll reporting
• Handle employee payroll queries and support audit and compliance requirements
• Identify process improvement opportunities and drive standardization and efficiency

Requirements:

• 5 or more years of experience in payroll operations with strong end-to-end process knowledge
• Proven expertise in pre-payroll, payroll processing, and post-payroll activities
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and statutory compliance
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar platforms
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage large data sets with accuracy and confidentiality
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working in multi-country or complex payroll environments is preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
