Medical Physicist — Oncology (Radiation Therapy) | Full-Time (Day Shift)

Salary Range: $159,360 – $265,599 USD (DOE; top of range aligned to significant experience)
We're partnering with a respected healthcare organization in Oregon to hire a Medical Physicist (Oncology) for a full-time, day-shift position. This is an exciting opportunity for a physicist who wants meaningful ownership over equipment performance, quality systems, and patient safety—while collaborating closely with Radiation Oncology, therapy teams, and leadership.
New grads with ~2 years of experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
What you'll doIn this role, you'll support safe, accurate radiation delivery and help maintain the department's technical excellence by:
- Operating and maintaining therapeutic equipment and supporting overall equipment performance
- Leading or supporting linear accelerator calibration , routine maintenance, and quality assurance (QA)
- Supporting treatment workflows, including daily linac treatments , daily QA, and treatment planning (including 3D and IMRT )
- Participating in simulation and low-dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy support, as applicable
- Serving as a key technical advisor to the Radiation Safety Officer ; preference for candidates who can also assume Radiation Safety Officer responsibilities (dual-role)
Technical and professional strengths
- Strong clinical Radiation Oncology foundation and comfort with fast-moving clinical environments
- Demonstrated ability in linac calibration and QA activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Strong mathematical/computer background; confident with software tools and clinical interfaces
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating across departments
- Exercises strong judgment and critical thinking; maintains reliable attendance
- Master's or PhD in Medical Physics or related field
- Board certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics via ABR or certification through the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics
- Preferred: ~5 years as a staff medical physicist with demonstrated Radiation Oncology experience
- Also welcome: early-career candidates (including new grads with ~2 years experience)
- Maintains certification with ABR and/or ABMP (as applicable)
- Active membership in AAPM preferred/expected per client standards
- Extensive sitting with periodic standing/walking
- May lift up to 20 lbs
- Significant use of computer/phone/office equipment
- Adequate visual acuity; ability to grasp/handle objects
- Clear communication skills (reading, writing, speaking in person/by phone)
- May require occasional off-site travel
