Classification: Non-exempt Marion C. Early R-V is seeking a bus driver for the 2025-2026 school year. MCE operates on a 4-day schedule. Training can be provided.
Summary:
Drivers transport students in district transportation.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Transport students in a safe and efficient manner.
• Operate school vehicles in a proper and prudent manner in accordance with state
rules, regulations, Missouri Motor Vehicle Laws, Marion C. Early R5 Policies,
rules, regulations, and directives from the Supervisor of Transportation
• Make daily routine checks of maintenance and emergency items such as brakes,
lights, tires, oil, belts, fire extinguishers, first aid kit.
• Report maintenance problems as soon as detected.
• Turn in reports on time filled out completely with driver's name attached
• Maintain clean and unobstructed interior and exterior conditions on his/her bus at
all times.
• Maintain order and discipline while transporting students in accordance with
established procedures, handling minor disciplinary problems, and reporting
infractions that require intervention to the appropriate building administrator.
• Be courteous to riders and parents.
• Be rested and free from fatigue.
• Be on time at scheduled stops.
• Attend at least one driver's training program per year.
• Report any school bus accident as soon as possible. Drivers should remain with
the bus throughout the investigation.
• Participate in required drug and alcohol testing Supervisory Duties:
Drivers supervise students while transporting them
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or the equivalent Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
The Bus Driver should be able to:
• Meet age requirements:
o At least twenty-one (21)
o Under seventy (70). A person may be allowed to drive a bus after July 1 Marion C. Early
following their seventieth birthday, but only if they can pass an annual
medical, written examination Driver Exam, Pre-Trip, Skills, And on road
• Missouri Commercial Driver's License, Class B or higher, and a Missouri school
bus "S" Endorsement.
• Maintain good physical and mental health, free from communicable disease, and have normal use of both arms, hands, legs, and feet. Vision shall be at least 20/20
in one eye with 20/40 vision in the other eye, or 20/30 vision in both eyes, with correction if necessary. A driver shall be able to distinguish the colors red, green,
and yellow. Hearing shall be adequate to hear ordinary conversation. A driver shall undergo a physical examination annually by a licensed physician and present a signed physical examination certificate to the employer.
• Report to work neat and clean.
• Abstain from the use of tobacco in the bus.
• Refrain from driving under the influence of intoxicants, narcotics, or drugs. Skills and Abilities:
Language
Ability to read and write simple sentences in English, read and understand maps and
possess basic writing skills sufficient to complete pre and post-trip reports and student
discipline referrals
Computational
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to do so using units of American weight,
volume and distance measurement
Reasoning
Ability to understand and follow Board policies, administrative procedures, and training
and handbook materials Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact in a friendly manner with co-workers, parents, and students

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is
noisy, active and occasionally loud including engine noise and the sound of many
children speaking in which raised the voice may be necessary. Frequently works in
temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees. Occasionally works in rain, sleet
and ice and drive on slippery conditions. The employee will work near or with moving
mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic
