Republic Services (recycling and energy services) is looking for a Data Scientist to join the team full-time. This position is a 4 month contract to hire. Republic Services can sponsor candidates who need sponsorship to work in the US.

Day to day, the Data Scientist will drive internal data analytics projects and help more junior data scientist with the work. This role will be working on business side problems as opposed to just coding all day. Must be comfortable communicating analysis to the business department. The ideal candidate will need to have at least two years of experience building models and programming with R and/or SQL (both are preferred). Experience building models, testing models, and statistical modeling is required.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Researches and resolves data inquiries and requests.
• Provides insights and serves as a subject matter expert for department data.
• Documents requirements for data science and reporting projects.
• Supports the development of standard data analyses, reports, and dashboards.
• Collaborates with other teams to gather data and build relationships.
• Performs time-series analyses, hypothesis testing, and causal analyses to statistically assess relative impact and extract trends across all relevant functional areas.
• Transforms data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Designs experiments and interprets the results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions.
• Builds statistical models to enhance understanding of trends and predicts future performance.
• Finds new opportunities and novel applications for our core internal data.
• Translates and champions our Machine Learning capabilities for non-technical audiences.
• Participates in end-to-end data science project lifecycle – data mining and exploration, model development and evaluation, solution deployment in production, measurement and tracking.
• Designs, validates and evaluates solutions using R, Python, SQL and other programming tools.
• Creates presentations for senior leaders, which are often used to build board level presentations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Preferred Skills:

• Master's Degree
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel including complex formulas, pivot tables, connecting to databases and cubes, and macros.
• Experience coding in VBA

Required Skills: - 2 years of data scientist experience and analytical techniques including multivariate regression, logistic regression, cluster analysis, design of experiments, machine learning, decision trees. - 2 years of demonstrated proficiency with quantitative tools including MS SQL, SAS, R, Python or similar statistical software. Basic Qualification: - Bachelor's Degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, etc. - Experience extracting data using SQL

Candidates can work remote, but need to be located in AZ and open to going onsite if there was a major meeting. Background Check: Yes Drug Screen: Yes
