It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work Training offenders in the safe, proper, and most efficient operation of equipment and practices utilized in a sewing manufacturing operation, while ensuring quality and quantity standards in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. Organize and direct work assignments of offenders and set up of equipment for processing of raw materials. Prepare a variety of written reports involving subjects such as inventory levels, equipment specifications, offender incidents, incentive wage payroll and production schedules. Preferred Qualifications Experience with hands on sewing equipment & tools. (Machines, press snips, etc.) Training in a production manufacturing environment. Training experience with skilled & unskilled workers. Experience with safety programs in a production environment. Experience with inventory & stock replenishment. Minimum Education and Experience High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. Special Requirements Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License Cannery – Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire. Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification. Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
