About this position:The Journeyman Gasman performs operations, maintenance and construction tasks on natural gas distribution systems. The Journeyman Gasman performs service work on Company equipment and in customers' homes. About this job: Communicate verbally and understand audible signals in emergency/safety situationsBe available and respond to afterhours callouts for gas emergencies and customer responseRespond to natural gas emergencies, complete gas construction activities, and perform service work as neededAssume leadership role in response to emergency situations Interact with the publicOperate hand tools and heavy equipment including backhoes and trenchersHand-shovel dirt to dig and backfill trenchesInstall pipe, wrap pipes and joints Weld steel pipe in accordance with Appendix C of 49 CFR, Part 192Fuse plastic pipe, clean joints for clamping, operate fusion tools Install meters and regulatorsUse blueprints and advanced skilled knowledge to fabricate, service and construct gas linesUse tapping equipment to tap and stop-off gas linesAct as a job foreman overseeing all aspects of a project, including safety and planningComplete all documentation for project planning and completionPerform service-related work including but not limited to the following: meter reading, working with customers in their homes, gas leakage checks, CO checks, high bill complaint investigations, and disconnecting and reestablishing services (electric and gas turn-off/on)Conduct scheduled leak surveys, operate various leak detection equipmentOrganize equipment and perform regular and preventative maintenanceWork as a team member to safely and efficiently complete work activitiesMaintain situational and safety awareness at all times and communicate as needed to maintain safety and efficiencyPerform individual lifts and manipulate needed equipment weighing up to 75 poundsDrive to job locations; tow trailersMaintain Company buildings and facilities at work locations, including shop upkeep and snow removalAdapt to technological changes as they are implementedWork with electric crews assisting on operations, maintenance, and construction of the electric distribution and transmission systemYou must agree to live within an area approved by the company that allows for adequate response to our customers in call out and emergency situationsThe ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position, consistent with applicable laws and reasonable accommodation requirementsAll NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & EthicsEnsure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectivesAm I right for this job?
