Job Summary:

The Academic Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting student success through the coordination, assessment, and continuous improvement of academic support services. This position leads Academic Skills Coaching initiatives, supports early intervention efforts for students in need of additional academic assistance, evaluates program effectiveness, and contributes to annual reporting. Working closely with students, faculty, staff, and tutoring team members, the specialist uses data-informed practices to enhance services and support evolving student needs.

This position combines student support, program coordination, and data-informed decision-making to enhance academic success across the College. The Academic Support Specialist collaborates with campus partners to expand academic skills coaching, implement early intervention strategies, evaluate program outcomes, and communicate impact through assessment and reporting. By identifying trends, supporting service improvements, and helping students connect with the right resources at the right time, this role contributes directly to student persistence, achievement, and overall success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, promote, and assess the Academic Skills Coaching program, including partnerships, training development, and continuous program improvement.
• Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to identify, support, and connect students to academic resources through proactive early intervention efforts.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret participation, assessment, and student success data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform decision-making.
• Evaluate and enhance assessment practices for tutoring, Peer Academic Mentor, and Academic Skills Coaching programs.
• Gather, verify, analyze, and report program data to develop annual reports highlighting outcomes, impact, trends, and opportunities for growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
• Two years' experience in academic support, tutoring, student services, advising, education, data tracking, or program coordination.
• Experience or training in data collection, data management, data analysis, or assessment reporting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to collect, organize, verify, and summarize data with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential student information with professionalism and discretion.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Excel, student information systems, or data management tools.
