Job Title: 2nd shift Quality Lead

Job Summary

The Quality Lead is responsible for inspecting painted products throughout the finishing process to ensure they meet customer specifications before shipment. This role focuses on identifying paint and cosmetic defects, performing quality testing and measurements, maintaining documentation, and supporting continuous improvement efforts on the production floor.

Responsibilities

• Perform final inspections of painted products and verify compliance with quality standards.
• Identify paint and cosmetic defects, including runs, drips, orange peel, gloss inconsistencies, and thickness variations.
• Conduct adhesion testing and measure coating thickness using mil gauges.
• Verify gloss levels using gloss meters.
• Document inspection results, test data, and quality findings.
• Maintain quality records and prepare reports using Microsoft Office.
• Communicate quality concerns and support corrective actions with production teams.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to quality procedures.
• Ensure products meet specifications before shipment.

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of manufacturing quality inspection experience.
• Strong visual inspection skills and attention to detail.
• Experience documenting quality findings and inspection results.
• Basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.

Preferred:

• Experience inspecting painted or coated products.
• Experience with adhesion testing, mil gauges, and gloss meters.
• Understanding of paint curing and finishing processes.
• Experience with quality systems, SOPs, and customer specifications.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience.

Work Environment

Manufacturing facility focused on painted and coated products. Training is conducted on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM), with the permanent schedule on 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM). Overtime and Saturdays may be required based on production needs. The environment is fast-paced and requires working closely with production teams while following established quality and safety standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Decatur, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
