Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:


The Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction and support to a caseload of 25 middle school students in grades 7 and 8. The role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning needs, and collaborating with staff, parents, and other stakeholders to promote student success. This position requires a valid South Carolina multi-category teaching certification and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for assigned students.
• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of middle school students.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and inclusion.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school activities.
• Manage a caseload of 25 students, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Valid South Carolina multi-category teaching certification.
• Experience working with middle school students in a special education setting.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Ability to develop and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in classroom management and instructional strategies for diverse learners.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience teaching grades 7 and 8 in a middle school environment.
• Additional certifications or training in special education methodologies.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive instructional tools.

Special Considerations:

• Work is based in a middle school setting serving grades 7 and 8.
• Scheduled time off includes: 9/7/26; 10/8/26-10/9/26; 11/3/26; 11/23/26-11/27/26; 12/21/26-12/25/26; 12/28/26-01/01/27; 01/18/27; 02/15/27; 3/29/27-4/02/27.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position with a 37.5 hour workweek.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, aligned with the school calendar from 7/21/26 to 5/24/27.
