Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a night shift position at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center serving adults in an acute care teaching hospital setting.

Details

• 703-bed acute care teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) affiliated with a medical school
• Unit serves adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:25
• Robust Assess and Treat protocol in place, including ventilator management and liberation policy
• Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNOvent, and LTV1200
• Epic EMR experience required
• Night shift: 3x12s, 7p–7a (4x12s available upon request)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
• Floating within skillset required
• 13-week contract with extensions up to 26 weeks available upon request

Requirements

• RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
• VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with requirement to obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while VA permanent license is processed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of critical care experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center environment, including neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
• Proficiency in aerosol and medication delivery systems (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler) and a broad range of inhaled medications
• Competency in ABG interpretation and ventilator management, including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
• Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)
• PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• License required if applicable

• First-time travelers are accepted; 1 year of prior travel experience is preferred
• Local candidates are not accepted; a radius rule applies to determine candidate eligibility
• Two professional references required for consideration
• All RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
