Section Head, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

We’re seeking an experienced physician leader with vision and passion to serve as Section Head, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.

Position Overview

In this role, you will join three faculty to lead and grow this program to increase the number of children being cared for at Ochsner. Additional training and experience in bone marrow transplant and/or stem cell transplant is desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow the pediatric hematology/oncology program
Serve as part of faculty to increase patient volume
Oversee physician recruiting, budget, productivity, quality, patient satisfaction goals, and medical staff management
Participate in bedside patient care across levels (54‑bed Level IV NICU, 14‑bed PICU, 12‑bed pediatric CV‑ICU, 44‑bed pediatric acute unit, dedicated pediatric ER)
Engage in teaching of residents (Ochsner Surgery and Pediatrics Residency) and medical students from University of Queensland
Assist in statewide medical transport teams

Qualifications

Experienced physician with strong leadership, team‑building, and managerial skills
Proven administrative experience in physician recruiting and budgetary performance
Desire for bone marrow transplant / stem cell transplant training
Strong track record of productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction
