OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Behavior Services Supervisor, the Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist assesses and develops behavioral intervention plans for clients who are manifesting behavior that meets criteria for the program. The Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist provides one-on-one intensive services to youth, including crisis safety planning, collaborates with the primary mental health provider and educates the caregiver on strategies to support the youth. DUTIES: (75%) Direct Services Provide leadership in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral intervention plans. Methodology will be consistent with applied behavioral model. Complete a thorough functional analysis of referred youth and develop a collaborative plan with identified caregiver. Ensures that the intensity and frequency of services meets the identified level of need in the youth and family. Coordinate and collaborate with referring provider during the process of developing a behavioral plan as well as ongoing communication with regard to progress made and discharge planning. Provide collateral services to caregiver in the development of the behavioral plan as well as providing psychoeducation and parenting education. Engages and teaches caregivers with the expectation that the services are short-term to support the sustainability of positive progress. Ensures that services are delivered using well-established practices, focus on positive reinforcement and are strength-based. Develop and implement a monitoring system to track client’s progress on TBS plan. Complete paperwork required for initial authorization as well as reauthorization. Write daily/weekly progress notes for each client/family session within required deadlines; may complete other EPSDT paperwork as assigned. Will utilize Avatar to complete all EPSDT paperwork. Assist in the ongoing development and evaluation of the service program. (25%) Other Attend all team meetings, child and family meetings, and other meetings as required. Establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with both internal staff throughout all levels of the agency and with external resources. Participate in training activities as directed. Assist in monitoring and ensuring effective linkages with community and agency service providers. Assist in the completion of all documents for the TBS program, including but not limited to IUR and behavioral evaluation tools. Serve as a role model and advocate for children and families involved in services. Adhere to policies, systems and standards of the Sacramento Children's Home and all applicable programs, agencies and contracts. Participate in supervision, staff meetings, process reviews and other assigned meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. LOCATION: 4343 Williamsbourgh Dr. Sacramento, CA 95823 SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm; Work days and hours may be modified due to program needs. SALARY: $24.70 - 27.79 per hour, to start QualificationsEducation and Experience: Four (4) years of full time/equivalent (FTE) direct care experience in the mental health field. Up to two (2) years of education in a mental health or alcohol and drug related field can substitute for two (2) years of experience: Four years of FTE direct care experience in a mental health related field providing mental health. Or Two years of FTE direct care experience in a mental health related field providing mental health; and two (2) years of education (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with a minimum of 12 semester (18 quarter) units in a mental health related subject area such as child development, social work, human behavior, rehabilitation, psychology, or alcohol and drug counseling. Previous experience providing applied behavioral interventions to youth and EPSDT documentation is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Knowledge of applied behavioral analysis. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with families. Ability to provide sound clinical interventiosn for high-risk youth. Ability to reinforce DBHS documentation standards in program. Ability to collaborate with youth/family's primary mental health provider. Ability to work flexibly, creatively and comfortably with families of varied ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Knowledge of child abuse issues. Knowledge of child development and behavior. Knowledge of family dynamics. Knowledge of substance abuse issues. Knowledge of local cultures. Skill to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner. Excellent organizational skills. Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment. Excellent problem solving skills. Able to use various Microsoft Office products. Ability to report to work on a regular and reliable basis. Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Must meet the requirements of the SCH Driving Qualifications policy. Must be at least 21 years of age. Driving is an essential function of this job, and as such, employees in this position will be required to furnish their own vehicle to be used in the course of employment. A valid driver's license and minimum insurance coverage is also required.
