The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a skilled individual to oversee the installations, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment at the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant. Essential Job Functions
- Lead and direct the work of crew members, including training and guidance.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, and other machinery.
- Inspect mechanical equipment and make maintenance recommendations.
- Operate power tools and large mobile equipment like boom trucks and forklifts.
- Perform welding, brazing, soldering, minor carpentry, and painting.
- Submit work activity reports and maintain tools and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturer's data sheets.
- Troubleshoot problems and make recommendations.
- Respond to off-duty emergency call-ins as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma, trade school graduation, or G.E.D. from a recognized institution.
- Three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
- Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, and climb ladders up to 30 feet.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Preferences
- Additional qualifying experience or coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field.
