Floor Assembler I
The Floor Assembler I is an entry-level manufacturing role responsible for performing basic assembly tasks on the production floor in accordance with established work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements. Working under close supervision, this position supports efficient production operations by assembling components, handling materials, and ensuring workmanship meets defined specifications. The role contributes to product quality, production output, and workplace safety while developing foundational manufacturing skills.
Role Overview
The Floor Assembler I supports manufacturing operations by performing routine, well-defined assembly tasks as part of a production team. The role follows detailed instructions, uses basic tools and equipment, and adheres to safety and quality procedures. Success is demonstrated through consistent task execution, attention to detail, and reliable support of production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Production Support
- Perform basic assembly of components or subassemblies according to work instructions
- Use hand tools, fixtures, and basic equipment as required
- Follow standardized assembly sequences and takt times
- Assist with material handling, part staging, and workstation setup
- Quality & Workmanship
- Assemble products to required specifications and quality standards
- Perform basic visual inspections to identify defects or non-conforming parts
- Escalate quality concerns or assembly issues to leads or supervisors
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient workstations
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Comply with manufacturing, quality, and housekeeping standards
- Report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly
- Support adherence to 5S and continuous improvement practices
- Team Collaboration & Communication
- Work effectively as part of a production team
- Follow supervisor direction and production priorities
- Communicate issues related to materials, instructions, or equipment
- Support cross-training and shared workload across assembly areas as needed
- Learning & Skill Development
- Learn production processes, tools, and quality requirements
- Participate in on-the-job training and skill development activities
- Develop reliability, consistency, and basic problem-solving skills
- Build foundational manufacturing knowledge for progression to higher assembly levels
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Entry-level position; prior manufacturing, assembly, or hands-on experience helpful but not required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong attention to detail and quality
Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a production environment
Basic communication and teamwork skills
Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical work as required
Commitment to safety, attendance, and reliability
$20-$22 per hour
