Construction Safety Manager Location: Manassas, VA Duration: 3+ Months (Start: 7/13) Type: 1099 Contractor Compensation & Schedule Pay Rate: $56/hr (Local) | $49/hr (Non-Local) Per Diem: $120/Day (7 Days Per Week) Completion Bonus: $150/month Pay Frequency: Weekly Schedule: 50-60 Hours Per Week | 1st Shift Why This Opportunity Join a structural steel contractor supporting a large-scale data center construction project in Manassas, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional with structural steel experience who enjoys being highly visible in the field and actively supporting crews through coaching, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation. Required Qualifications OSHA 30 Certification OSHA 500 or 510 Certification 5+ years of construction safety experience Structural steel safety oversight experience Ironworker, steel erection, or structural steel field experience Preferred Qualifications Data center construction experience Signal Person qualification or experience Experience reviewing lift plans and critical lifts Experience supporting large commercial or industrial construction projects CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential What You'll Be Doing Oversee daily safety activities for structural steel construction operations Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments Monitor steel erection, bridging, and ironworker activities Support and enforce fall protection programs and elevated work procedures Monitor crane operations, rigging activities, and material handling processes Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), lift plans, and pre‑task plans Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation Deliver new hire orientations and ongoing safety training Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records Partner with project supervision to proactively identify and mitigate hazards Promote a positive safety culture across the project Technical Knowledge Candidates Should Have Working Knowledge Of OSHA Construction Standards Structural Steel Erection Safety Ironworker & Steel Erection Operations Bridging & Decking Activities Fall Protection & Leading Edge Work Crane & Rigging Operations Lift Planning & Critical Lift Procedures Signal Person Responsibilities Aerial Lifts & MEWPs Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Development Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Contractor Safety Management Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation Data Center Construction Safety What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate is a highly visible, field‑focused safety professional who can build strong relationships with ironworkers, supervisors, and project leadership, proactively identify hazards, maintain compliance, support safe steel erection activities, and help ensure the successful execution of the project while maintaining production goals.
