Part-Time Security GuardChildren's Aid is one of New York City's leading child and family service organizations. The Children's Aid College Prep Charter School (CACPCS) serves youth from Kindergarten through 5th grade and includes an Early Childhood program. CACPCS is a multi-level building located at 1232 Southern Blvd. in the Bronx.Children's Aid is seeking a Part-Time Security Guard to join the CACPCS Security Team. Reporting directly to the Security Operations Manager, the Security Guard is responsible for supporting the safety and well-being of staff and scholars at the school. This includes monitoring cameras and door access, conducting interior and exterior foot patrols, and assisting with emergency and crisis operations under the direction of School Leadership and the Security Operations Manager.To help children in poverty to succeed and thrive. Children's Aid annually serves children and their families at over forty sites in New York, as well as through three national program models. Children's Aid is concentrating its efforts on creating cradle-through-college pathways in high-need neighborhoods, with a focus on children's health, family stability, education, and social and emotional development.We put children, youth, and families first: We listen to and incorporate the voices of children, youth, and families in all that we do.We seek equity and transformation in our communities: We courageously work within and outside systems to create opportunities for children, youth, and families.We strive for excellence: We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.We are powered by collaboration: Our work is stronger when we trust, partner, and respect each other and the communities we serve.We are driven by compassion: We lead with kindness, care, and empathy and believe in the endless potential of the people we serve and our team.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSecurity & Site MonitoringContinuously monitor the entrances, exits, and stairwells of the facility.Promote overall safety and security awareness throughout the site, including the lobby and reception area during working hours.Monitor cameras and door access and observe activities throughout the facility.Conduct regular foot patrols of the interior and exterior direct perimeter areas of the school, checking for trespassers, vandalism, and suspicious activity.Check for signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.Observe activities and report irregularities to School Leadership and the Security Operations Manager.Submit a Children's Aid Reportable Event for irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, the presence of unauthorized persons, unusual occurrences, violent critical incidents, or other security or safety incidents.Learn and follow all existing safety and security protocols to support the safety of staff and scholars in the building.Safety & Emergency ResponseRespond to emergencies and crisis situations within the school under the direction of School Leadership and the Security Operations Manager.Serve an active role on the emergency response team and assist with fire and other emergency drills.Provide support to staff when dealing with disruptive or inappropriate behavior, as needed or instructed, in a diplomatic and professional manner.Maintain a positive and professional approach, exercise sound judgment, and respond appropriately to conflicts and disruptive or inappropriate behavior.Escort staff to safety as needed and assist with arranging car service as needed.Adhere to all applicable state and city licensing requirements and support a healthy and safe environment.Visitor & Site SupportGreet visitors, scholars, parents, and staff in a proactive, positive, professional, and courteous manner.Issue visitor passes and check visitors out of the facility.Provide exceptional service and appropriate assistance to scholars, parents, staff, and visitors in an expedient manner.Report to the assigned post on time and maintain regular and reliable attendance.Adhere to the uniform dress code for all CACPCS Security staff.Professional Standards & DevelopmentParticipate in required and offered trainings and professional development activities, including Active Shooter, De-escalation, CPR/AED, and other applicable trainings and workshops.Attend and participate in Children's Aid All-Staff conferences.Maintain required licensing and certifications, including NYS Department of State security licensing, and provide proof of attendance or certification for professional training and activities.Maintain a professional, resourceful, dependable, and approachable manner.Minimum QualificationsActive New York State Department of State (NYS DOS) Security Guard License.Professional appearance and demeanor.Good verbal and written communication skills.Basic Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, particularly email and calendar, as well as familiarity with E-Visitor check-in systems.Flexibility, punctuality, and regular attendance.Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.It is the policy of Children's Aid to provide equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment and is dedicated to maintaining a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.
