The shift is during the day from 06:45 to 19:15. The average daily patient census is 23 on a 25-bed unit. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing. First-time travelers are welcome if they have a solid foundation as an RN. Weekend work is required, with every other weekend expected. Candidates will float to other medical surgical units as needed. The facility may call off staff up to 36 hours over the course of the 13-week assignment. Experience with a range of diagnoses, including urology/nephrology illnesses and surgical procedures, is essential. Knowledge of complex bladder surgeries and end-stage kidney disease is important. The unit also manages postoperative care for kidney transplant patients. We expect a high volume of patient admissions and discharges daily. Candidates should be familiar with the use of central and peripheral IV lines, urinary catheters, and various monitoring equipment. Desired skills include blood draws and management of chest tubes and nephrostomy tubes. Robust interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Candidates must possess the ability to work in a busy, dynamic environment and demonstrate strong patient care abilities.
