Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 24 months of current OR experience and Trauma Level II experience in a Level I trauma center.

Details

Level I trauma center Operating Room unit with 16 OR suites, typically running 12-14 rooms

Average caseload of 35-50 cases per day with expectation of turnovers under 20 minutes

Service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Robotics, Gyn, Uro, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, and small volume ENT/Plastics

Special equipment includes 3 daVinci robots, Stealth technology for Neuro navigation, and Synthes/Stryker for ortho trauma

1:1 patient ratio with 16 beds

Both scrub and circulating duties preferred

Schedule is Monday-Friday, 4x10-hour shifts with a 0630 start time and rotating day off, 40 hrs/week

Weekend call runs from end of shift Friday until 0630 Monday, required for three weekends per 13-week contract

On-call requirement includes one overnight per week

Float required across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses

Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required

Minimum 24 months of current Operating Room experience required, hospital/medical center experience prioritized

Circulating/OR experience required, scrub experience highly preferred

Required case experience in General, daVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma

Highly preferred experience in Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular cases

Epic EMR experience within the previous 3 years required

Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience highly preferred

Orthopedic scrubbing experience highly preferred

Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months

Valid driver's license required for consideration

Professional reference from a supervisor within 24 months preferred

Additional Information

Provide circulating and/or scrub support across a high-volume, high-acuity trauma OR service

Scrubs provided

Holiday coverage required, working 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments at any UPH market facility
