Job Title: Welder Job Description
We are seeking an experienced welder to join a metal manufacturing team in a full-time, first-shift role. In this contract-to-hire position, you set up and operate metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas welding equipment to work primarily with steel and aluminum. You handle materials using standard hand tools, overhead cranes, and fork trucks, and you help ensure quality by identifying and discarding non-conforming materials. You also support production operations by accurately reporting labor hours, assisting coworkers, and participating in inventory cycle counts, all while maintaining a clean, safe work area and wearing appropriate protective equipment.
Responsibilities

• Set up and operate MIG and TIG welding equipment to weld steel and aluminum components.
• Read, interpret, and work from blueprints to complete welding and fabrication tasks accurately.
• Perform welding on tubing, high beams, and other structural materials as required.
• Use standard hand tools, overhead cranes, and fork trucks to safely handle and manipulate materials and product components.
• Report labor hours accurately using an electronic scanner or similar system.
• Identify materials that fail to meet company standards and discard or segregate them appropriately.
• Conduct inventory cycle counts to support accurate stock levels and efficient production.
• Coordinate with administration and other team members to ensure efficient completion of job orders.
• Assist other personnel as needed to maintain workflow and achieve production goals.
• Work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision while meeting quality standards.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Adapt to changing work priorities and tasks within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members to support 100% customer satisfaction.
• Follow proper lifting procedures and use overhead cranes and fork trucks for materials exceeding specified weight limits.

Essential Skills

• 3-5 years of experience in MIG welding.
• Proficiency in reading and working with blueprints.
• Experience welding tubing and high beams.
• Hands-on experience working with steel; experience with other metals is beneficial.
• Ability to perform aluminum welding and familiarity with flux core and stainless steel welding.
• Skilled in using overhead cranes and fork trucks for material handling.
• Ability to report labor hours accurately via electronic scanner or similar systems.
• Ability to identify and discard materials that do not conform to company standards.
• Experience with inventory cycle counting in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to support customer satisfaction.
• Adaptability to a constantly changing work environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform periodic kneeling and back bending.
• Capability to lift up to approximately 30 pounds and follow procedures for lifting heavier materials with equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Electrical wiring skills are a plus.
• Ability to visualize the finished product prior to completion.
• American Welding Society (AWS) certification is a plus but not required.
• Exposure to or training aligned with AWS Standard D1.1 is available.
• Comfort working in a metal shop environment with welding, painting, and fabrication work cells.
• Willingness to work in conditions with some temperature variation due to seasonal changes.
• Interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity with an initial duration of approximately six months.

Work Environment
This role is fully on-site in a metal shop manufacturing setting located in Las Vegas, Nevada. You work in a large warehouse building organized into mostly individual work cells, with the majority dedicated to welding, painting, and fabrication tasks. The team consists of approximately 25 people, creating a focused yet collaborative atmosphere. Work is performed under some temperature variation due to seasonal changes. The position follows first-shift hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. You use welding equipment, standard hand tools, overhead cranes, and fork trucks regularly, and you are expected to wear appropriate safety and protective attire while maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
