Manager, Power Distribution (Substation)

Overview PacifiCorp is seeking customer‑centric leaders to sustain our commitment to customer service excellence, environmental sustainability, inclusion, and belonging. Responsibilities Participate in activities related to the planning, design, construction, maintenance, switching, and control of the electrical distribution and transmission systems. Analyze market and competition to understand the organization’s strengths and weaknesses and identify external threats and opportunities. Adapt strategy to changing conditions, overcoming resistance, and supporting those affected by change. Implement strategic business objectives and plans that support the company’s goals. Manage and allocate financial and employee resources and maintain the departmental budget. Promote safety through demonstrated leadership and deliver a zero‑accident workplace message. Respond to after‑hour emergencies related to the electrical system, covering both distribution and transmission activities. Manage schedules and complete the annual substation maintenance plan and capital work. Perform inspections and field audits of substation maintenance and capital work. Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop employees. Identify and implement more efficient ways to perform the job. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in the electric utility or related industry. Completion of the Assistant Manager training program or equivalent directly related electrical/utility experience. Previous supervisory experience or completion of the Assistant Manager training program. Demonstrated management, administrative, supervisory, and leadership skills. Availability to respond to after‑hour emergencies on short notice on any day and at any time. Ability to lead, motivate, and influence employees. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and mainframe applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must live within the assigned work area as agreed upon by the hiring director to support daily and after‑hours operational issues. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately in all communications. Travel may be required. Valid driver’s license is required. Preferences Minimum of five years experience in distribution operations, maintenance, and construction. Thorough knowledge of labor agreements, accident prevention manuals, code requirements, personnel procedures, budgeting, and general company policies.
