People Operations Intern

SUMMARY:

CSM Group is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented People Operations Intern to join our team for our summer intern program. This internship provides hands‑on experience across multiple areas of human resources and employee experience, including recruiting, onboarding, training and development, employee engagement, People Operations administration, and organizational culture initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about people, eager to learn human capital best practices, and interested in contributing to programs that support employee success and organizational growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Onboarding & Experience Assist with onboarding activities, orientation preparation and new hire documentation. Coordinate new employee welcome materials and onboarding schedules. Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs. Help gather feedback from employees to improve workplace experiences. People Operations Administration Maintain accurate employee records and personnel files. Assist with data entry, reporting and document management. Support compliance and employment‑related recordkeeping. Help update policies, procedures, and internal resources. Learning & Development Assist with organizing training sessions and professional development programs. Track employee training participation and completion records. Support creation of learning materials and presentation content. Culture & Engagement Help plan employee events, wellness initiatives and team‑building activities. Support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives. Contribute ideas that strengthen company culture and employee engagement. Special Projects Participate in People Operations projects and process improvement initiatives. Conduct research and provide recommendations on human capital trends and best practices. Assist with workforce planning, employee surveys and data analysis as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, Communications or a related field. Rising junior, senior or graduate student preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset. Interest in human resources, employee experience, talent acquisition, organizational development and the construction management industry. Preferred but not required: Previous internship, leadership, campus involvement, or administrative experience. Familiarity with HRIS, ATS or employee engagement platforms. Experience using Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. The employee is required to traverse uneven terrain and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other structures, as well as work at variable heights. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle tools, controls, and for fine motor coordination like computer work. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. For Field positions, while performing this job, the employee must frequently inspect the project site and may be exposed to ongoing construction activities, vibrations, noise, and various outside weather conditions (in all seasons). Work environment involves moderate risks which may require safety precautions. The noise level in the work environment may range from quiet to loud. The proper use of Personnel Protective Equipment (including but not limited to safety boots, hardhat, and protective eyewear) is required on the jobsite.
