Electrical Engineer II with Security Clearance

Alutiiq Information Management, LLC (a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC) offers an Electrical Engineer II – RF Systems position located in San Diego, CA. The role supports the Naval Information Warfare Command Pacific (NIWC) by providing research, development, test, evaluation, and engineering services to the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Department of Defense air systems, avionics, surveillance, air traffic control and communications systems, and related mechanical components. Responsibilities Design and optimize the radio access network of future 5G cellular terrestrial networks, including determining optimal base‑station placement, configuring antenna systems, and managing radio‑frequency interference to ensure reliable and efficient communication. Conduct network performance analysis, review system requirements, and develop optimization strategies to improve network quality and user experience. Use unmanned platforms and payload sensors to develop and implement routine and mission‑plan operations, including localization and mapping capabilities; integrate both aerial and ground‑based vehicles. Coordinate installation evolutions with government entities and vendor support staff as systems mature. Assist in the performance of test events for a variety of applications supporting routine military operations. Perform ongoing technical review of system documentation to support tenant commands in efforts to streamline and upgrade operations. Create and maintain test documents associated with future and ongoing events. Provide regular technical status reporting to U.S. Government engineers and senior military personnel. Create 3D CAD models of existing systems derived from laser‑scanned measurement data. Qualifications B.S. in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent certification program. Six or more years of experience designing, optimizing, and maintaining low‑latency wireless networks. Demonstrated ability to perform site surveys, link budgets, and compliance checks. Experience with MIMO deployment, beamforming optimization, and interference mitigation; proficiency in analyzing network performance using industry tools. Ability to interpret and prepare 3D engineering drawings, including 2D drawings, exploded diagrams, and assembly diagrams per U.S. Government engineering standards. U.S. citizenship required. Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain or reestablish this clearance. Payrate: $105,000 – $125,000 annually.
