Job Summary Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead, the RN assumes the responsibility for the nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation and infusion therapy needed to deliver safe, evidence-based care within their scope of practice. The RN coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound care, injections, therapeutic phlebotomy, lab draws, accessing/de-accessing port-a-caths and/or flushing ports as scheduled. This RN also works closely with the Charge Nurses as well as the hospitals pharmacist related to patient scheduled needs. This RN's work is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation and advocacy for options and services to meet health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality cost effective outcomes.

Required Licenses
Required:
-Graduate of an accredited school of nursing-ADN.
-Knowledge of general nursing. Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques involved in nursing.
-Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Kansas or has work permit from the State Board of Nursing.
-BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first thirty days of employment. -ACLS Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations.
-PALS required within one year of employment.
-Computer experience. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), PICC line and Sono-certification. Essential Functions
• Collects and assesses initial and on-going data about the health status of the patient.
• Initiates and/or revises an individualized plan of care that includes immediate and long-term out comes for the patient/family and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
• Carries out interventions safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected out comes.
• Evaluates patient response to intervention/therapy based upon expected outcomes.
• Provides patient education by explaining procedures, medications and giving instructions at a level the patient can understand; addresses patient's questions and concerns; verifies patient informed consent when indicated. Documents and communicates all required components of patient care.
Performs treatment related or supportive therapies such as blood products, hydration, antibiotic therapy, IM injections, cardiac medications, and pain management.
• Performs specialized treatment of wounds and serves as a resource to staff.
• Initiates the evidence based discharge plan of care process for immediate and long-term outcomes including patient education, evaluation of patient response, DRG reviews, utilization reviews and quality assessments and reflects the plan of the entire health care team.
• Carries out plan of care safely and in compliance with policy to facilitate achievement of expected
outcomes.
• Provides patient education by explaining plan of care, discharge plans and available resources at a level the patient can understand; addresses patient's questions and concerns; verifies patient informed consent when indicated.
• Evaluates patient response based upon expected outcomes.
• Performs chart checks on a daily basis.
• Performs other duties in the hospital as assigned. HIPAA: This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position at Hays Medical Center based on the following criteria:
Primary - required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary - required for the job, but mostly be exception; and

Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment. Patient Interaction: Frequent
