Research Specialist, Antifungal Drug Development at Hackensack Meridian Health Nutley, NJ

Location: Nutley, NJ. The laboratory of Dr. Milena Kordalewska at Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a dedicated Research Specialist focused on antifungal drug development. This role advances translational research, tackling emerging and drug-resistant fungal pathogens, and contributes to preclinical drug discovery to improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities Conduct in vitro evaluations to determine the potency and spectrum of activity of novel antifungal compounds. Perform molecular biology assays to elucidate mechanisms of action and resistance. Assist in conducting in vivo drug efficacy models in rodents to assess the therapeutic potential of lead candidates. Desired Laboratory Experience Microbial cultures, particularly yeasts and filamentous fungi. Drug susceptibility testing. In vitro and in vivo biofilm models. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor's degree or equivalent training. Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Ability to work independently and maintain a strong work ethic. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Flexible work schedule; availability to work occasional weekends or extended hours. Lab‑specific technical skills (e.g., culture handling, pipetting). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities B.Sc. or Master's degree. Experience in a BSL‑2/3 laboratory facility. Experience with small animal handling. Other laboratory‑specific skills.
