Position Overview

This position is for a dynamic healthcare professional in a progressive 24-bed Patient Care Unit (PCU) located in Dallas, TX. The unit operates with a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:3, providing high-quality care to patients with complex cardiac conditions.

Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Patient Type: Cardiac patients in various post-operative phases.
EMR: Meditech

Staffing Details

Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs for 24 patients
Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 8 RNs for 24 patients

Equipment Used

Baxter IV pumps
Hillrom devices
iMobile with Apple technology
Telemetry systems

Candidate Qualifications

Required Skills:

Strong accountability for actions
Knowledge of cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Cardizem)

Preferred Skills:

Excellent communication skills with patients and interdisciplinary teams
6 months of PCU experience

Typical Procedures Performed

Post-operative care days following CABG, AVR/MVR, aortic root repairs, LVAD
Immediate post VATS care (including chest tubes)
Post vascular surgeries
Pre/post cath lab and EP procedures (pacemaker/AICD, heart caths, PCIs, TAVR)
Bedside procedures (paracentesis, thoracentesis, PICC insertion)

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
