Youth Athletic Group Leader- Basketball Enrichment

General Overview of Key Roles & Responsibilities The Athletic Group Leader is responsible for planning and facilitating a structured basketball enrichment program within SPARK BTB. This position promotes youth development through athletics while ensuring student safety, academic accountability, and alignment with SPARK’s program standards and Burlington County youth service expectations. The Athletic Group Leader serves as a coach, mentor, and positive role model, delivering structured skill development—not unsupervised free play. Hours Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–6:00 PM Essential & Core Functions Assist the Program Coordinator in maintaining policies and procedures of the program. Serve as a core staff member and a point person for emergencies. Report emergencies and problems to the Program Coordinator. Plan, develop, and provide a nurturing, structured, and enriching after‑school program for students. Perform or assist with administrative tasks such as composing, copying, and distributing work, and planning the weekly schedule. Maintain a clean and orderly environment for the program. Create structured, well‑rounded programs for students. Serve as the Youth Council Liaison. Perform outreach for youth recruitment. Contact students enrolled who are not attending. Engage community leaders, groups, and businesses to incorporate them into programming. Implement planned activities. Supervise students during all activities. Actively engage in activities with children and act as a role model. Implement a Strength‑Based Youth Development approach with all interactions. Maintain student records and program documentation (attendance, physical exams, emergency contacts, etc.). Communicate with teachers and parents about daily activities and participate in parent conferences as needed. Manage behavior proactively during the program and on field trips. Supervise students during breaks, walks, and snacks. Provide individual assistance to students and families as needed. Prepare class presentations and student evaluations. Attend all designated orientation sessions, trainings, and meetings. Enforce all rules fairly and consistently according to the policies. Work cooperatively with group leaders and program staff using open communication and problem‑solving skills. Report to work at your scheduled start time. Support program mission and administrative decisions. Perform all duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements Associate’s Degree or equivalent credits plus experience working with children and youth, OR High‑school diploma and at least one year of experience working with children and youth. Experience in sensitivity to multicultural settings. Knowledge of and sensitivity toward adolescent development issues; desire to work with students ages 5‑18. Successful completion of CPR and First Aid training. Acceptable FBI, criminal background check, and child‑abuse history clearances required. Competencies & Personal Characteristics Solid oral and written communication skills. Good organizational skills. Conflict resolution and peer‑mediation experience. Ability to work well with others. Ability to handle conflicts with diplomacy and tact. Ability to listen and evaluate objectively. Organizational Accountability & Relationships The individual is supervised by the Program Coordinator.
