Radiology - Rad Tech Profession: Diagnostic Imaging Specialty: Radiologic Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift weekdays; every 3rd weekend evening shift Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology Certifications: Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support and renews BLS every two years Must-Have: High School diploma or equivalent Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists One year of experience preferred in performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Knowledge of radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety hazards common to radiology Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment problems Description:Prepare patients for examinations.Explain procedures and respond to patient questions.Perform diagnostic procedures for patients as ordered by physicians.Greeting each patient pleasantly is essential.Review requests and evaluate orders for appropriate exams and diagnoses.Always check for two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth.Explain procedures in terms the patient understands.Contact the appropriate individuals for proper scheduling and orders.Prepare and position patients for examinations.Determine and use the proper technique to position patients for views and examinations.Take correct views for examinations.Demonstrate the ability to operate CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms safely and efficiently.Know how to operate CR readers and printers.Perform proper start-up and shut down of equipment.Know how to transfer images to PACS, scan documents, and route them.Change priority to STAT or URGENT when necessary.Assist the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations.Move portable radiographic equipment for various procedures within departments.Use proper sterile technique during examinations in operating rooms.Prepare IV and Oral contrast media for use, and administer contrast media as needed.Verbalize the specific steps taken for contrast reactions and documentation.Document patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, date, time of study, and technologist initials in PACS.Perform other related technical patient care duties as assigned.Maintain room assignments and keep work areas clean and orderly.Demonstrate appropriate radiation safety practices and promote radiation safety of patients and staff.Escort patients throughout departments and/or the facility.Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and others.Perform clerical duties efficiently, timely, and accurately.Monitor the workflow process utilizing PACS, image release, and CD burning.Assist in office functions as needed.Perform office tasks during off shifts.Comply with and perform quality assurance duties as assigned.Explain policies, procedures, and clerical functions to radiology students as directed.Perform related and miscellaneous duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
