Dental Assistant Responsibilities:Prepares, sterilizes, disinfects, and maintains dental equipment, instruments, and suppliesCollects and records patient health histories and x-raysEnsures patient comfort during dental proceduresCompletes charting of treatment information in the patients' dental notes from the doctor as directedAssist doctor in management of medical and dental emergenciesDelivers postoperative and general oral care instructions to patientMaintains infection control procedures, patient privacy, and professional interactions with patients and staffAssist administrative team with customer service functionsPatient Relations & Front Office Responsibilities:Greet and welcome patients in a warm, positive, and professional manner.Handle patient records confidentially and respectfully, adhering to all HIPAA privacy standards.Answer phones courteously using excellent customer service skills; relay messages accurately.Promptly respond to voicemails, emails, and texts from patients.Provide clear instructions, directions, and thorough answers to patient questions.Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized daily schedule.Create and manage new patient accounts in the Practice Management System.Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.Coordinate communication and workflow between front office and clinical staff.Manage unscheduled treatment plans and recall lists.Place appointment reminder calls, texts, or emails.Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized front reception area.Assist in coordinating temporary staffing coverage as needed.Review treatment plans with patients and explain treatment and payment options.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentPrevious experience as a Dental Assistant with front desk knowledge/insuranceCompletion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program or dental assistant experience preferred but not requiredPrevious customer service or office experienceProficiency or the ability to become proficient within 90 days in dental terminology and dental software for charting, treatment planning, clinical notes, etc.Strong verbal and written communication skillsFoster a positive attitude and be a team playerPatient Care Hours: Monday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Why Racine?
