QUALIFICATIONS: Completionof an approved physician assistant/nurse practitioner program of instruction OR achieveand maintain American Board of Family Practice certification as a FamilyPractitioner OR Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Maintainat all times a current and active certification by the NCCPA as a PhysicianAssistant or Board of Nursing as an NP. Maintain a current and active licenseto practice as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in the state of Idaho.OR Completion of degree as Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor ofOsteopathy (DO) from an accredited university. Successful completion ofbackground investigation(s) including, but not limited to, NationalPractitioner Databank and criminal history check. Maintain current IdahoControlled Substance Registration issued by the Idaho Board of Pharmacy.Maintain current Idaho Physician and Surgeon license issued by the Idaho Boardof Medicine. Maintain current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency registration.

Comprehensive knowledge of pediatrics and adult medicine, minororthopedics and minor surgical procedures required .For PA/NP must be able to practice without an on-site physician.ACLS & PALS certification is required, with knowledge of acute traumamanagement.

ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Hearing: within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.

• Vision: adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.

• Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and public.

• Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing and data entry, handling eyeglass fittings/repairs.

• Able to lift up to 25 lbs.

• Standing 50% of the day

• Walking 25% of the day.

• Pushing up to 30 lbs.

• Pulling up to 20 lbs.

SUMMARY OFDUTIES :

• Provides comprehensive health care inmultiple settings to Indian and non-Indian patients served by Marimn Health.

• Evaluates situations, which call foremergency medical procedures or require physician intervention.

• Evaluates and treats acute injuries,including injections, subcutaneous local anesthesia, apply and remove splint/castsfor severe sprains and fractures, suture superficial wounds, removes andtreat/dress wounds.

• Responsible for diagnosis and treatmentof conditions within the scope of practice.

• Evaluates patients including obtainingmedical history and physical exam. Orders and interprets appropriate lab andx-ray data. Under the supervision of a physician (either direct or indirect)and within guidelines established by protocols and standing orders, diagnosepatient conditions, prescribe medications, order tests, discriminate betweennormal and abnormal finding and provide treatment and therapy. This includesinitiating appropriate referrals to other health care providers.

• Obtains appropriate consults fromspecialists when needed.

• Legibly documents all patient visits assoon as possible or within 24 hours following that encounter for urgent visits.

• Responsible for attending mandatory medicalstaff meetings, in addition to general staff, provider/nurse and other meetingsas assigned. Assists in functions associated with Quality Assurance.

• Attempts to use agreed upon formularyand works closely with pharmacy to prevent medication errors.

• Direct patient care issues always takepriority. Medical literature or journals read only when all direct patient careissues and administrative duties/projects are addressed and completed.

• Along with assigned nursing/ancillarystaff, assure that ongoing clinic audit information is recorded during patient appointments.(Providers are responsible for checking that nursing complete documentation andflow sheets.)

• 10-hour workday as agreed incompensation package or equivalent if 8-hour days.

• Willing to serve on committeesrequiring a provider at Medical Directors’ instruction.

• Checks with other teams at end of dayto get all patients seen.

• QI activities as assigned by theMedical Director.

• Uses EMR to accurately document eachpatient encounter. Documentation must becompleted within 24 to 72 hours of the encounter. Encounters and tasks areexpected to be complete prior to any extended leave.

• Will participate in periodic peerreview of randomly selected charts from each provider.

• Provider will conduct ad hoc peerreviews of events involving physicians or APP providers involving patient careor inter-staff events such as incident reports involving physicians or APPs.

• Ability to effectively interact with supervisors.

• Verbal, non-verbal and writtencommunication is professional and appropriate.
