Mission Statement
The mission of Mental Health and Recovery Counseling Education and Training (MHRCET) is to empower underserved youth by providing supportive services, fostering community engagement, and creating equitable opportunities. We aim to break down systemic barriers that limit access to education, mental health resources, and pathways to success, ensuring every young person has the tools, support, and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.
Description
We are in the early stages of exploring potential additions to our Board and look forward to engaging with individuals who bring strong governance experience, strategic insight, and a commitment to advancing meaningful impact. This is an important phase of organizational growth, and we are approaching it with intentionality and care.
We are actively seeking individuals based in the U.S. (California preferred) and welcome connections dedicated to advancing community‑centered impact.
If you, or someone within your network, is well suited to sit on the Board, we welcome the opportunity to connect.
Committing to this volunteer position will include the following:
- Assisting the Executive/Advisory Committee in carrying out its governance functions
- Ensuring the Board’s directives, policies, and resolutions are carried out
- Leading the development and refinement of impact metrics
- Serving as an ambassador of the organization and advocating its mission to internal and external stakeholders
Responsibilities: ( includes but not limited to )
- Arrive prepared and participate thoughtfully and consistently in board meetings.
- Review all board materials ahead of meetings to make informed, responsible decisions.
- Actively champion the organization in the community and serve as a visible, trusted ambassador for its work.
- Develop a clear understanding of the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs, and stay grounded in its shared purpose.
- Take part in ongoing learning experiences to deepen understanding of the communities we serve.
- Play a proactive role in helping secure the partnerships and resources needed to move the mission forward.
- Use personal and professional networks to strengthen collective efforts that support the organization’s goals.
- Help identify connections that can expand partnership opportunities and enhance the organization’s profile.
- Contribute fully by serving on at least one committee, working group, or task force.
- Take part in ongoing learning experiences to deepen understanding of the communities we serve.
- Honor and value the diverse perspectives, voices, and lived experiences brought into the boardroom and the organization.
