Job Details Job Location: Pawhuska Hospital, Inc. – Pawhuska, OK 74056 Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: Day Job Category: Health Care Position Summary A clinically competent Certified Medical Assistant or LPN who coordinates and delivers professional healthcare to the acutely ill, healthy and/or childhood wellness checks for patients in all phases of life (newborn through geriatric) using the knowledge obtained through their certified training. The CMA/LPN will effectively interact with patients, significant others, other healthcare team members and front office staff, maintaining professional standards. Responsibilities include assisting physicians/providers, nursing team, clinic manager and front office staff with patient preparation, basic screening procedures, entering patient data, supporting front office duties such as scheduling, answering calls, checking patients in/out, collecting co‑pays, etc. Qualifications ACLS and BLS required upon hire. PALS required within 90 days of employment. Demonstrates initiative, ability to work with others, and professional judgment. Minimum 2 years experience as a certified medical assistant. Education and Experience Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of a certified medical assistant, medications, treatments, procedures, counseling, and equipment use. Ability to operate complex equipment. Demonstrates clinical competence for pediatrics through geriatric patients. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proof of education at time of hire required. Preferred: 2 years previous clinic experience. Licensure / Certification Licensed as a certified medical assistant or LPN in the state of Oklahoma. BLS and ACLS required upon hire. PALS required within 90 days. Proof of all required licenses and certifications due at time of hire. Language Skills Primary language: English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to interpret reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals. Effective presentation of information and response to questions from managers, physicians, clients, customers, employees, and the public. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Computes ratios, percentages, rates, and interprets graphs. Reasoning Ability Applies common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Defines and solves problems, collects data, establishes facts, draws valid conclusions. Interprets technical instructions in statistical or diagram form and manages variables. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist physicians and mid‑level providers with office practice. Prepare for patient appointments by gathering required information such as lab results, radiology reports, medical records, etc. Assist during outpatient surgical procedures and treatments: writing orders, completing consent forms, gathering supplies, maintaining sterile environment, monitoring patients, assisting with specimen collection, etc. Demonstrate and maintain current medication knowledge; administer medications according to policy and procedures, including injections. Maintain records, reports, logs, statistics as required. Distribute samples, administer medications, send prescriptions after physician approval of refills. Exercise appropriate judgment and correct techniques in procedures, treatments, and drug administration. Maintain safe environment for patients, customers, self, and other employees. Participate in assigned duties designated by physician/practitioner, clinic manager, nursing staff; including pre‑certification of patients. Adhere to clinic dress code, wear name badge; identify yourself to patients and customers on phone and in person; respond to calls and messages promptly. Participate in review/revision of clinic policies, procedures, standards of patient care, and certified medical assistant practices. Attend necessary meetings on time; take responsibility for content if absent; maintain professional growth and pursue additional training. Consistently present a professional image and caring attitude. Provide safe and effective care to patients using certified medical assistant process. Utilize measures to promote patient, visitor, and personnel safety. Demonstrate knowledge of phone etiquette, scheduling, faxing, and effective communication with patients, staff, and external entities. Demonstrate knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and respond appropriately. Demonstrate computer knowledge and basic computer/office staff skills. Additional Responsibilities Seek external resources through conferences, workshops, etc. Share professional knowledge with hospital staff, board members, administrators. Comply with HIPAA regulatory requirements. Adhere to facility philosophy, mission, policies and procedures. Support facility goals and objectives. Maintain good attendance and follow all hospital/clinic rules, policies, and procedures. Maintain open, effective communication with patients, nurses, physicians, peers, supervisors, and students. Establish and maintain excellent interdepartmental and interpersonal relationships. Attend departmental meetings and in‑services to stay current with clinic and hospital developments. Observe proper safety measures in techniques used on patients receiving therapy; maintain high safety standards in clinic. Interpersonal Skills Demonstrates active listening techniques. Builds support through effective relationships. Treats others with dignity and respect; seeks feedback. Demonstrates honesty and integrity in care and use of patient/hospital property. Shows respect for patient rights, dignity, and individuality in all interactions. Respects co‑workers and complies with hospital/clinic policies.
