The student-athlete shall also receive instruction that fosters moral values, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence. Responsibilities Demonstrate collaborative leadership, embodying Comet Pride, integrity, courage, resilience, excellence, and responsibility. Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and stakeholders. Provide behavioral and socio-emotional support and promote a positive environment. Maintain punctuality and an animated hospitality approach. Confidentially handle sensitive information as required. Comply with district policies and handbook regulations. Establish and maintain discipline in accordance with administrative policy. Ensure student-athlete safety, inform about hazards and proper use of equipment. Cooperate with leadership and accept coaching suggestions. Develop practice plans for hurdles and sprinters. Require completed documentation, manage paperwork, and attend required meetings. Supervise student participants during practices, contests, events, trips, conditioning, and locker rooms. Maintain regular contact with other coaches within the program vertical alignment. Qualifications & Skills Valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization. Comprehensive knowledge of all school activity policies. Required concussion training. Knowledge of athletic program operations. First Aid and CPR certification (desired). Familiarity with conference/state rules and procedures. Previous coaching experience (desired). Background in coaching hurdles and sprinters (desired). Ability to work with both male and female athletes. Physical Demands This position requires constant standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 70 lbs, carrying 35 ft, working indoors/outdoors, and temperature extremes.
