Traffic Safety Project Manager I

Overview Looking to join HNTB’s Traffic Engineering practice to lead and deliver safety analyses and other projects for Carolinas clients. Responsibilities include delivering NCDOT Safety assignments, crash analyses, corridor studies, predictive safety analyses, and on‑call crash analysis requests. The role also includes mentoring and leading a current team of professionals. Responsibilities Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts. Serve as primary client liaison and manage project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and client satisfaction. Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations. Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach on each project. Lead the development and execution of the project management plan. Supervise and mentor team towards overall project objectives. Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff. Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to support business development and pursue strategic and mini‑mega projects. Work with marketing resources to prepare proposal and presentation materials. Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini‑mega projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Eight years of relevant experience. Two years of task management or deputy PM experience. Preferred Qualifications Ten years of relevant experience. Experience delivering similar projects for NCDOT. Knowledge of NCDOT Traffic Safety Software (TEAAS). Experience with traffic ordinances. Professional Engineer (PE) certification. Master’s degree in Engineering. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Additional Information Benefits: HNTB Total Rewards.
