Hiring Department Department of Health Sciences University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and HealthStudies For more information about the School of Nursing and HealthStudies, visit: Job Description The Department of Health Sciences in the School of Nursing andHealth Studies at the University of Missouri–Kansas City invitesapplications for adjunct faculty positions to support undergraduateinstruction in health sciences. Adjunct faculty play an importantrole in preparing students for careers in health-related fieldsthrough high-quality teaching, applied learning, andstudent-centered engagement. Position Description The successful candidate will teach one or more courses in theDepartment of Health Sciences based on departmental need, applicantexpertise, and course availability. Teaching assignments mayinclude in-person, hybrid, or online courses. Areas ofinstructional need may include, but are not limited to: Public health Health promotion and disease prevention Health systems and policy Epidemiology Research methods Healthcare ethics Health communication Community health Interprofessional education Leadership in health professions Other areas related to health sciences Adjunct faculty are expected to prepare and deliver course content, assess student learning, provide timely feedback, maintain regularcommunication with students, and comply with departmental, school, and university policies. Adjunct faculty responsibilities may include: Teaching assigned course sections in accordance with approved course objectives Developing or updating syllabi, assignments, and learning activities as needed Evaluating student performance and submitting grades by established deadlines Holding appropriate office hours or providing regular student support Communicating regularly with the department chair or designated course coordinator Supporting the mission of the School of Nursing and HealthStudies and UMKC This is a part-time, non-benefit academic position. Hours will varyaccording to the opportunity. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Applicants must hold a master’s degree in health sciences, publichealth, healthcare administration, education, or a closely relatedfield. Relevant professional experience in a health-relateddiscipline is required. Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will hold a doctoral degree in healthsciences, public health, healthcare administration, education, or aclosely related field. Have prior teaching experience at thecollege or university level, experience with online or hybridinstruction, familiarity with learning management systems, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching.
