Speech Language Pathologist - Pediatric

Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist – Pediatric Department: Pediatric Rehab Services General Summary Demonstrates advanced clinical skills in evaluating, diagnosing, and developing individualized treatment plans for complex speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Interprets complex provider referrals and evaluates patients with advanced or multifaceted speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Makes preliminary diagnoses and formulates individualized treatment plans, including regular assessment of progress. Ensures compliance with system-wide, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements by applying relevant standards and best practices. Educates patients and their families about their condition, treatment plan, and strategies for home management. Coordinates collaboration with other healthcare professionals as needed to provide comprehensive care. Actively participates in departmental meetings and demonstrates engagement in service line rounds, journal clubs, or discharge planning. Serves as a preceptor and mentor to new team member as needed. Supports educational initiatives within the enterprise, department, and student programming, including but not limited to training opportunities, presentations, student project development, and serving as a secondary Clinical Educator in the absence of the primary Clinical Educator. General Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Master's degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent degree for foreign graduates. Experience Requirements At least 3 years of experience. License/Certification/Registration Requirements Current license from the Oklahoma Board of Examiners for Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Certificate of Clinical Competence. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Advanced knowledge of equipment, supplies, Home Exercise Programs (HEP), and discharge instructions to facilitate a safe discharge plan. Synthesizes information from multiple sources, recognizing patterns and clinical complexities. Communicates effectively and compassionately with patients and caregivers, considering cultural and language needs. Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient's best interest. Advanced written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, empathy, compassion, openness, integrity, and ability to be diplomatic. Demonstrates autonomy and effective teamwork while maintaining professionalism and civility. Advanced proficiency in electronic documentation and digital tools (e.g., EMR, Microsoft Office, cloud‑based platforms). Champions diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
