Commissioning Engineer, AWS Data Center

Salary: $116,800 - 160,000 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 5 years of experience in engineering, installation, or startup and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems.
• We require a bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant experience in a related discipline.
• We look for strong technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or controls systems used in critical infrastructure, with the ability and willingness to learn the other domains.
• We expect the ability to interpret design intent by reviewing drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and operating sequences, and to provide feedback aligned with our basis-of-design standards.
• We require the ability to develop and, primarily, review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and reports for accuracy and alignment with design requirements.
• We prefer experience creating and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems and components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.
• We prefer advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook; SharePoint or similar tools are a plus.
• We value strong communication skills, attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to stay composed in high-pressure environments while working respectfully with multiple teams.
• We prefer advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructure.
• We prefer the ability to read and edit construction documents such as design drawings, control diagrams, and specifications.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• We need the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 80% of the year.
• We require the ability to provide personal transportation for offsite meetings and job visits, with reimbursement provided.

• We oversee testing and validation of our data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• We review design documents and evaluate construction quality against engineering requirements.
• We lead Factory Witness Testing and manage third-party commissioning vendors during onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
• We coordinate with vendors, contractors, engineering, capacity delivery, and operations teams to keep commissioning activities on track.
• We provide multidisciplinary input into scheduling, test script development, design reviews, and project planning.
• We review component submittals and validate commissioning documentation prepared by vendors.
• We conduct system-level and integrated system testing across electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• We audit commissioning activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards.
• We resolve technical issues, escalate risks when turnover is in jeopardy, and adapt to changing site schedules and coordination needs.
• We produce weekly status updates and share lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
• We identify issues, assess criticality, recommend solutions, and document findings for each project.
• We support multiple active projects with short timelines.
