Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Dental insurance Sandy Oak Materials is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Scale Operator to support operations at our frac sand wash plant in Poteet, Texas. The Scale Operator plays an important role in the daily movement and tracking of finished product by coordinating truck loading, maintaining accurate inventory and activity records, communicating with drivers and plant personnel, and preparing required documentation and reports. This position also provides administrative support for plant operations, including answering phones and emails, assisting visitors, maintaining records, and communicating information between the plant and corporate office. The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm. This is a safety-sensitive position within an active mining/industrial environment. The Scale Operator must maintain constant attention to safety, accuracy, and established operating procedures while coordinating truck traffic and product movement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee the loading of trucks with finished sand. Accurately enter and maintain inventory, load, and activity information in the appropriate systems. Verify load information and required documentation for accuracy before trucks are released. Communicate effectively with drivers, plant personnel, management, and the corporate office. Monitor truck activity and assist with maintaining an efficient flow of trucks through the scale/loadout process. Prepare and forward operational reports to management and the corporate office as required. Prepare documents, reports, correspondence, and other administrative records. Maintain organized and accurate electronic and paper files. Answer incoming telephone calls and emails, take messages, and communicate information promptly. Greet visitors, vendors, contractors, and drivers and direct them appropriately. Monitor office supplies and coordinate purchasing needs with the appropriate department. Assist with ensuring office equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Follow established site access, traffic, safety, and operational procedures. Immediately report safety concerns, hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to management. Participate in required company and site-specific safety training. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Cross-train in other duties and provide operational support as directed by management. Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Strong communication and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work effectively with drivers, plant personnel, management, vendors, and customers. Basic mathematical and numerical skills. Proficient computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, word processing, and spreadsheets. Ability to learn and accurately use company inventory, scale, loadout, and reporting systems. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced operating environment. Dependable attendance and punctuality are required due to the operational nature of the position. Ability and willingness to be cross-trained and perform additional responsibilities as needed. Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position is primarily performed in a scale house/office environment located within an active frac sand mining and processing facility. The employee may periodically be exposed to outdoor and industrial conditions when entering operational areas. Sit for extended periods. Frequently use a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements. Use hands to type, handle, control, and operate equipment and tools. Bend, reach, and twist as necessary. Lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds . Safely enter and navigate designated areas of an active industrial/mining facility as required. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated operational areas. Work around commercial motor vehicles, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions when outside the scale house. The original description currently lists the 25-pound lifting requirement, prolonged sitting, repetitive computer work, bending/twisting, and multitasking requirements. Safety-Sensitive Position This position is designated as safety-sensitive. The Scale Operator performs duties that directly support truck movement, product loading, load documentation, and operations within an active mining/industrial facility. An employee's ability to perform these responsibilities safely and accurately may affect the safety of employees, drivers, contractors, visitors, equipment, and property. Employees in this position are required to: Perform all duties in a safe and alert manner. Follow Sandy Oak Materials' safety policies, procedures, and work rules. Comply with applicable MSHA requirements and site-specific safety procedures. Participate in required safety training. Use required PPE when entering designated areas. Immediately report hazards, incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions. Comply with applicable company drug and alcohol policies and testing requirements.
