Our client, a small, family owned metal fabrication shop in the Croswell area is looking to add a General Manager to their team! This is a great role for someone who wants to/has been in a leadership role in a small shop and knows how to make things run smoothly.
The right candidate will have:
- Fabrication shop experience: welding, grinding, bending, CNC machining and have been a Plant Manager, Mfg Manager, etc, in the past.
- Will have two direct reports and an overall team of about 20 emps. Will report to the Director of Ops who is located in another facility.
- Developing culture, managing employees, becoming a strong mentor to the team is critical.
- ERP experience, understanding of scheduling, workflow, and the improvements needed to make it more functional.
- Customer interaction when needed, able to jump in and help the team members when needed.
- Industries include marine, aerospace, automotive, but specialized.
- Understanding of P&L, but not responsible for overall P&L for this facility.
This facility is one of three owned by the family. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the role and have a high level of accountability to and for the team. If I could sum it up, it would be someone who can come in, wrap their arms around their product/shop, streamline and motivate to allow them to grow to reach the potential they have. Not looking for a hard charging, take no prisoners attitude. Must be able to manage and grow a smaller facility.
Salary range for this role is $90 - $100k, plus a generous benefit package. 401k plus matching, PTO, health insurance etc. Ideally will live up in the thumb area (if you know the drive, it can be a bit much in the winter!) and want to grow your career up that way.
