Placement Range: $10.00 Position Type: Student Employee Job Category: Student General Description: The Math Resource Center Aide will assist with the daily operations of the Math Resource Center and provide support services to students and faculty. Reports To: None Eligibility: Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester OR current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study Award. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Positive customer service attitude Good telephone etiquette Basic computer skills Professional attitude Must be punctual and reliable Must follow directions and guidelines Must demonstrate effective communication and human relations skills while performing at work Must be able to independently perform the essential responsibilities of the position Maintain a clean and organized work and storage area Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff populations effectively Physical Demands/Working Conditions Medium work: may require occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force and frequently up to 20 pounds of force or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Requires frequent movement around the lab to perform job functions. Requires frequent communication with and listening to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform essential functions; must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. Requires frequent operation of a computer and other office/lab equipment. Requires frequent operation of equipment that involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists. Requires occasional positioning to access materials that may be above head or at ground level. Requires frequent positioning to work with lab equipment or assist students. Visual acuity: must judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations. Working conditions: performed in an indoor office or lab setting. Preferred Qualifications None Work Hours Work schedule will range from 20 – 25 hours per week and may include evenings and Saturdays depending on Math Resource Center operational requirements. Schedules are set each semester and will respect the student’s class schedule. Assist students with check-in procedures. Answer incoming phone calls and provide information as needed. Check out materials such as textbooks, solution manuals, and calculators for student use in the Math Resource Center. Check out calculator caddies and other materials to faculty. Perform light clerical duties. Cleaning and dusting of computers and monitors. Ensure printers are properly maintained with paper. Other duties as assigned.
