Patient Population: Surgical (orthopedic, neurosurgery, colorectal, gynecological, urology, plastics, bariatrics, general surgery, trauma), medical‑cellulitis, SBO, AMS, GI, hospice, diabetes. Patient Ratios: 1:5 Number of Beds: 40 beds Department Specifics: Diverse workforce, team oriented, strongly promoted collaboration across all disciplines, self‑scheduling, Magnet Designated with active unit shared governance structure. Shift: Full Time Days; 7am‑7pm Experience: 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions of the Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans; adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to resolve issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Collaborate with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use different problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers’ development and demonstrate community service commitment. Key Success Factors A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines, plus hospital procedures and rules. Proficiency in medical terms with focus on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills for clear verbal and written expression. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities; effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Registered Nurse license. Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role. 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience.
