Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level II NICU Stepdown position in Austin, TX, requiring active NICU experience and NRP Advanced certification for a 13-week night shift contract.

Details

• Level II NICU Stepdown unit in a hospital setting, located on the 2nd floor
• Unit has 9 beds with overflow capacity for up to 15 patients
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3, with occasional 1:1 care for high-acuity patients awaiting transport
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Equipment includes respiratory support (SiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, LFNC), feeding pumps, and IV support (UVC and PIV)
• EMR: Meditech
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NRP Advanced 9th Edition certification (American Academy of Pediatrics card required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Assist NNP with complex procedures including surfactant administration, UVC placement, lumbar puncture, needle aspiration of pneumothorax, and circumcision
• Perform full patient admissions including IV starts and lab draws
• Delivery experience is preferred
• Navy scrubs required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but NICU experience is strictly required
