As an Environmental Health Scientist you will:

• Provide evaluations of imminent health threats associated with emergency releases of toxic and radioactive waste and other chemical incidents.
• Develop, prepare, and present technical materials for publication and distribution to other federal agencies, state and local governments, and the public.
• Maintain scientific liaison with other professionals from the Environmental Protection Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other federal and state agencies, to remain cognizant of the latest developments of environmental health science as it relates to branch functions.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Minimum Qualifications : You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following:

• Assessing environmental health data.
• Participating in the development of public health assessments by applying environmental health principles.
• Communicating environmental health findings to diverse groups including the public, governmental agencies, and scientific audiences.
