The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.Education• Associate's degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)Certification/Licensure• Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.• All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire and ACLS within 1 year of hire.Experience• 1 year of RN Experience required• 1 year of Intermediate - Stepdown level of care with cardiac knowledge ideal, ED, PCU or 1+ years of Medical/Surgical experience.Shifts available for Days and Nights shifts.Nurse Transition to Practice Program:At Sentara, we are committed to ensuring our nurses thrive from the very beginning of their journey. This program is designed to blend practical skills with hands-on training, professional development, and mentorship, equipping you with the confidence and expertise needed to excel in your critical care nursing career.Our Transition to Practice program features a mix of classroom teaching methodologies and a preceptor-based unit orientation. You will engage in 8 sessions that include live simulations, case studies, and problem-based learning. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
