Field Data Collector & Interviewer - Language Development

Job Title: Research Aide and Interviewer Department: EHE | Crane Center for Early Childhood The Research Aide & Interviewer conducts research activities for a federally funded longitudinal study on language development of children aged birth to 9 years. Under the direction and supervision of the Project Director and Lead Research Associate, the Research Aide & Interviewer will assist with material preparation, data collection (in-person, phone, email, or Zoom), data entry and coding, and data processing and cleaning. The incumbent assists the Project Director and Principal Investigator in the long-term and day-to-day progress toward project deliverables by facilitating the collection of data including child direct assessments, and is responsible for verifying the completeness and accuracy of assessment paperwork. This position requires traveling to conduct data collection within homes in the assigned project area on a regular basis. Work may be scheduled outside primary hours (M-F, 9am-5pm), including early morning, early evening, or occasional weekend appointments. Other duties as assigned. Required Experiences Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. 0 years of relevant experience. Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds; knowledge of educational assessments; ability to work as part of a team; knowledge of desktop computing; reliable transportation and willingness to travel for field work; must be able to fulfill state requirements to work with preschool children (successful completion of an FBI/BCI background check). Desired Experiences Education: Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent combination in Social Sciences. 1 year of relevant experience. Experience conducting home visits. Experience conducting child language assessments with children aged 2 to 9 years. (When workload drops below 80%, focus shifts to project management duties.) 20% Project Management related duties (per week): updating participant tracking materials, data processing and cleaning tasks, flexing to meet other project management needs. Target Hiring Range: $15.15/hr – $19.79/hr Location: Schoenbaum Family Center (0933) Position Type: Term (Fixed Term) Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: Varying Shifts Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
