Lead Preschool Teacher

East China School District is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Lead Preschool Teacher for our tuition-based 3-year-old program at the East China Early Childhood Center! Our ideal candidate will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where children can explore, learn, develop social skills, and grow through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that support the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of 3-year-old children
• Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
• Establish routines and expectations that promote independence, cooperation, and positive behavior
• Monitor and document student progress and communicate regularly with families regarding children's development
• Collaborate with classroom support staff, families, and colleagues to support each child's individual needs
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment
• Follow applicable Michigan child care licensing requirements, program guidelines, and district policies

Qualifications

Candidates must be at least 19 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED

• Completion of one of the following qualification pathways: At least one year of experience and completion of required MiRegistry approved training in program management, observation/documentation/assessment, teaching and learning, and an additional six hours of training in interactions and guidance, challenging behaviors, or trauma-informed practices At least six months of experience and six semester hours, nine CEUs, or an equivalent of 90 clock hours of coursework in child care administration, early childhood education, child development, or a child-related field Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or associate degree, along with the required MiRegistry approved training in program management, observation, documentation, assessment, teaching and learning, and an additional six hours of training in interactions and guidance, challenging behaviors, or trauma-informed practices.
• Experience working with preschool-age children, particularly children ages 3-4
• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Patience, flexibility, creativity, and a genuine love for working with young children

HOURS: 6:15 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. (Monday-Friday) 2026-2027 SALARY RANGE: $16.00 - $17.00/hr DOQ
